Originally, Tatsuya was a caring, proud, self-confident person and it's in his nature to not leave people in need.
He has a vague feeling in his heart to be a person who can express ideals to others like Maya did when they were young.
However, he does not know exactly what to do with his life and spends most of his free time on his bike and mechanic work, seeking economic independence from his family due to his father's disgrace.
In Eternal Punishment , Tatsuya is characterized as a fairly passive individual and a brooding figure. According to another student from Seven Sisters, Tatsuya always attends school, but skips lectures.
One day, Tatsuya gets a letter from Lisa Silverman about a student from their school being kidnapped by the gang leader of Kasugayama High School.
Lisa goes with him to face Eikichi and it's revealed that the letter was a ploy set up by Eikichi's friends to get Tatsuya to join their band, Gas Chamber.
Lisa derides Eikichi, prompting him to fight them both with his Persona. Lisa awakens her Persona after being attacked by Eikichi, prompting Tatsuya to summon his Persona to attack the gang leader.
Intrigued, Lisa decides to test calling the Joker to see if the rumor did come true, and tries, along with Ken, Takeshi, and Shogo, while Tatsuya, Eikichi, and Miyabi watch.
However, in doing so their plans backfire, calling forth Joker. Joker angrily expresses his hostility to the party, and mentions that they once did something horrible to him.
Joker then attacks the party, along with summoning demons. Although they manage to fend him off, they all become intrigued about Joker's words, and decide to investigate them.
Eventually, the three students are joined by Maya Amano and her friend, Yukino Mayuzumi. The five then search for Joker, the source of all rumors that spread becoming reality.
Their search leads the group to clash with a cult-like following known as the Masked Circle. It is later revealed that the original Masked Circle was the group of friends including Tatsuya, Maya, Lisa, Eikichi and Jun when they were all kids.
After debunking numerous rumors and defeating several members of the Masked Circle, the group meets with Joker, who then reveals himself to be Jun Kurosu , the fifth childhood friend and member of the original Masked Circle.
Tatsuya and the others fight off both remaining Masked Circle members and the Last Battalion soldiers to obtain the crystal skulls, defeating their own Shadows in the process.
Towards the end of Innocent Sin , Tatsuya and the others board an alien spaceship known as the Xibalba , another rumor that had spawned into reality.
In the deepest parts of Xibalba, the group finds the Fuhrer, wielding the Spear of Destiny the spear that pierced Jesus Christ that is said to leave a mortal wound the second it strikes flesh and defeats him.
At the conclusion of the game, it is revealed that all of the events had been orchestrated by Nyarlathotep in an attempt to show that the negatives of humanity would outshine the positives, contrary to Philemon's beliefs.
Nyarlathotep then takes his true form and fights Tatsuya and the others. After the fight, Nyarlathotep strikes Maya with the Spear of Destiny, killing her quickly.
With the prophecy fulfilled, the Earth's rotation suddenly stops, destroying everything on the surface of the planet, save for Sumaru City.
Philemon tells Tatsuya that there is a way to prevent Maya's death and stop Nyarlathotep from destroying the world.
Tatsuya agrees to create a new timeline in which Nyarlathotep is not successful, in exchange for everyone's memories.
Only Tatsuya could not defeat his Shadow Self which is why he didn't lose his memories after the world was reset.
Tatsuya returns as a major character in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Following the events of Innocent Sin , Tatsuya is the only one who recalls the memories that he and his friends had forged in the past.
Set after the events of the previous adventure, Maya instead takes the role of the silent protagonist. It is revealed in his scenario that he is actually borrowing the body of the Tatsuya native to the new reality, in hopes of sealing Nyarlathotep away to atone for his mistake in not holding out for his promise to forget his friends.
He also regrets his actions might have repercussions for the Tatsuya of the Eternal Punishment timeline when he fades away.
Also, before the events of the game and up to a certain point, Tatsuya attempted to cover the incidents indicating the return of Nyarlathotep; these efforts had a lukewarm success at first, considering he did not manage to stop Tatsuya Sudou's campaign of terror or many of the subsequent events, heavily depending on Shiori Miyashiro to help him.
His fervor in working alone and not allowing Katsuya, or more importantly, Maya, into his investigations, was explained as Nyarlathotep revealing the spell Philemon had used to restore the world following the events of Innocent Sin would be undone if either Maya, Eikichi, Lisa or Jun had their memories of the previous timeline restored, even branding him to remind him of the fact.
During the events of the Lab, it is he who confronts and sedates the crazed, demon-infused Shiori and helps Eikichi escape. He takes Shiori to the Velvet Room and asks Igor to help him restore Shiori, intending to collect the Trapezohedrons alone.
Still, before he can launch his one-man crusade, he is joined by the full group of Persona-users and forced to accept their help.
Though they are successful in restoring Shiori, he is again reminded of the high cost he had been forced to endure in his fight.
In the end, Tatsuya was allowed to forget about his friends and the adventures they had shared - at the cost of forever shattering the bonds he had forged through them.
By doing so, he vacated the borrowed body and returned to the IS timeline, leaving behind the Tatsuya Suou native to the EP timeline.
Soon after, the Suou brothers had a conversation in which it was implied Tatsuya intended to follow in his brother's footsteps and join the police force.
He is described as "Smoking hot" and in his 20's. Nonetheless, one could interpret it so, since Tatsuya has a habit of exhibiting overabundant amounts of modesty, whenever he is praised for his outstanding dexterity and achievements.
Among his several idiosyncrasies, Tatsuya is often teased by his friends for displaying a total lack of common sense regarding social interactions, as a product of his numerous misunderstandings and uncanny responses towards regular teenage affairs, which could be explained by his deprivation of any real social background that did not concern bureaucratic matters.
In conclusion, Tatsuya is a man who, despite having undergone dire straits and having lost even his emotional freedom, is still confident in himself and his aptitude to change the world for the better, as proven in a number of instances throughout the series, for the good people he believes in, and for the actualization of an exuberant future for his beloved sister to rejoice.
Tatsuya is the eldest son of Shiba Tatsurou and Shiba Miya. He is eleven months older than his younger and only sibling Miyuki.
His birthday falls on April 24 th. Prior to the beginning of the series, their father remarried six months after their mother's death; with the siblings now living on their own in a house which is described as a place that vastly exceeds the average size.
From a young age, one of the only things in which Tatsuya showed any enthusiasm-like qualities was in Magic Engineering and CAD development.
Their house has a basement with the same floor layout as the floor above but remodeled as Tatsuya's lab. It is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment from Four Leaves Technology with plenty of space for him to develop and test any new types of Magic that he may require.
The following section contains the latest spoiler. You have been warned light novel-only readers. Proceed at your own risk.
In the present time, aside from his two natural forms of magic, he is only able to use imitation and theoretical magic; something which can be ascribed to his other unique abilities and superior intellect.
Despite this deficiency he has taken advantage of his physical prowess and his superpowers to become Miyuki's Guardian, which is considered to be a job of the highest importance in the Yotsuba Family.
His combat prowess has also become respected enough that he is now a primary combatant of the Yotsuba Family. It is due to this imbalance that he is unable to use any other form of magic.
Miya used her unique and forbidden Outer-Systematic Magic Mental Design Interference , forcibly altering the area in the consciousness that is responsible for strong emotions called the Limbic System and installed a Magic Calculation Model in an attempt to create an Artificial Magic Calculation Area.
Tatsuya's operation. Maya upper left. Miya upper right. Five year old Tatsuya lower panel. However, the strain of the operation resulted in Tatsuya losing his ability to feel any type of strong emotions except for those regarding his sister.
Even with this exchange for the installation of another Magic Calculation Area which granted him the ability to utilize normal magic albeit at a significantly lower speed and power it was still insufficient for him to be regarded as a 'true magician' by the Yotsuba's.
An additional side effect of this procedure was for Tatsuya to develop a perfect memory, allowing him to recall all of his memories with complete accuracy ever since the day of the experiment.
It was later revealed by Maya that the operation was, in fact, to modify Tatsuya so he would not lose control of his emotions and become a berserker, destroying the world with his magic.
In order to ensure that Tatsuya had something that he was attached to, Miyuki in this case, Miya removed all his emotions, but for some reason, that was beyond Miya's and Maya's understanding, he kept his love for Miyuki.
The Yotsuba originally celebrated his birth, but due to the destructive potential of his magic, Kuroba Juuzou proposed the idea of killing the new-born baby, Tatsuya, but he was protected by Yotsuba Eisaku.
When Tatsuya was a baby, he was raised to be a warrior. As early as when he was able to stand up, he was subjected to training in the optimization of his body.
Tatsuya soon became able to walk and the combat training began. No matter how hard he cried and screamed, his will was ignored. As the family always resorted to locking him up, Tatsuya soon gave up on his rebellious attitude.
Starting from killing a wild animal, then a military grade dog, then military strengthened animal, and finally a living soldier.
He sank in a skilled year-old combat magician in a pool of his own blood from the very start in combat, neither out of an accident nor a surprise attack.
Later Tatsuya was assigned as Miyuki's Guardian. The name of Taurus Silver was used for several reasons.
First, Tatsuya was not of age when he developed the Loop-Cast system that Silver is famous for; legally, it would be impossible for Tatsuya to patent any of his inventions and developments without being of age.
This is the alias that is assigned to Tatsuya in the military to be specific, in the Independent Magic-Equipped Battalion as an unregistered Strategic-Class Magician.
In Volume 17 , Tatsuya's identity as a member Yotsuba and furthermore as the son of Maya was made public. The leader of the Tsukuba Clan , Tsukuba Touka was the magician who used Pledge that created the seal that limits the powers of Tatsuya through Miyuki.
When the limiter is released, freed Psions that are even visible briefly surrounded him in a blinding maelstrom of light.
While Miyuki is limiting her brother's abilities, her magic ability is also partially sealed as half of her Magic Power is used to seal her brother's power.
This causes her magic to escape her control occasionally when under emotional stress, mostly resulting in accidentally lowering the temperature in the surroundings whenever she is upset.
During this time, Himuro continued his training with Alexandra and drastically improved his streetball skills. His talent soon rose to a level that could be comparable with the Generation of Miracles.
After that, he suddenly notices Kagami's partner and asks who is he. He introduces himself as Kuroko , as Himuro seems to know that name and tells Kagami that he has found an interesting team-mate.
Kagami asks Himuro if he knows Kuroko but he merely replies that someone in his team talked about him.
He continues by saying that he'll introduce him later. At practice, Himuro watches Murasakibara blocking one of his team-mates.
He addresses him and tells that despite always complaining, he is always the most passionate during practice. Murasakibara replies that he hates to practice, but he hates losing even more.
Himuro is relieved and he'll give his all too. The tip-off is given and Murasakibara already commits a foul by grabbing the ball too early, Himuro tells him to be careful next time.
Through the first quarter, Himuro's team benefits from Murasakibara's defense with their formation. Before its end, Himuro tries to score but Kagami manages to touch the ball.
As the second quarter begins, Himuro is amazed by the new technique of Kuroko. He is seen delighted. In Seirin's next counter-offensive, they managed to close the gap to one point.
Being pressured, Liu and Okamura still succeed to bring the ball to Himuro. The latter is caught up by Kagami, but Himuro tells Murasakibara to not pass anymore and to end it himself.
However at the last four seconds, he quickly restarts the game and passes the ball to Murasakibara, who was already running towards Seirin's hoop.
Nevertheless, his team-mate can no longer jump, to which Himuro blames on Murasakibara's constant jumps to block Kiyoshi. As Himuro walks toward Murasakibara, he says that they'll win next time but he responds that he'll quit basketball.
Himuro smiles, not convinced by Murasakibara's claim. Himuro is kicked by Haizaki. Kagami then arrives, shouting at the stranger to release Alex.
However, Alex attempts a high kick on him and he evades it, releasing her at the same time. Kagami is angry, ready to throw himself at him but Himuro stops him as he'll get disqualified if he starts a brawl.
He then explains what happened before he arrived. A basketball is suddenly thrown at the stranger by Kise. Kise then takes on the responsibility of defeating Haizaki.
After their meeting, Himuro asks Kagami if he had come for something.
